Do I have Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is noise that originates within the ear rather than from the outside environment. This may affect one or both ears. Tinnitus is a symptom associated with many forms of hearing loss, but can also be a symptom of other health problems.

The sounds have been described as a "ringing or humming" noise, a "buzzing, clicking or whistling" sound, "like running water" or like the "sound from a seashell held close to the ear".
It has been estimated that over 50 million people in the United States have tinnitus with at least 2 million suffering so severely that it interferes with their daily activities. About 17 percent of the global population is affected by this "ringing in the ears" (tinnitus). It is estimated that people with severe cases of tinnitus may find it difficult to hear, work, or even sleep.
